From bootcamp
"Ok, younglings, haven't played a game in ages!" said the grandfather, while stepping though the doors of the newly-opened Games Workshop temple. (He payed 20$ to do so, after all, even GW air is made from solid gold, isn't it?) Everyone there looked at him as a total weirdo; he felt uncomfortable in this society of 9-year olds and their parent-units.
After a while, he managed to get himself a game. His opponent - an 8-year student from the elitarist school for youg homosexuals, was playing the only viable army of that time - the Ultramarines 0.00001st company, which had received a new codex just a week ago - not a wonder, because every army which hadn't received a new codex in the last month was completely unplayable in tournaments. As the grandfather opened his figure case, silent whispers started to wander around, telling that this man is NOT playing Ultramarines - some brace voice even whispered tha the rumours about non-space marine armies might be true, and all the store shivered, as they actually saw his weird, non-power armored fellows being taken out from the black case. "What heresy is this?" Some asked. Others silently discussed that might be his army IS Ultramarines, because what fool would not play them? But they all fell silent when the old man declared that he's playing Imperial Guard.
"Do....they actually have rules?" and "What are those treaded things? Might they be the tanks of which the ancient disks speak of?" The air itself was tingling with sensation!
The first turn began - the old man had, surprisingly, rolled a 6 11 times in a row, to see if he doesn't automatically lose to Ultramarines, as were written the new, 47th Ultramarines codex, in the special rule: "Buy more, this is the best army. EVER!"
His strategy was simple, his army list - as variable as he could have made it - using the old 4th ed codex, he had made his light infantry force, supported by many a tank. When his bassie shot and hit, his opponent's face turned blue. "HOW can you kill a Space Marine? Are there REALLY AP3 weapons?" When the little boy saw the earthshaker cannon, his mother came close to our main hero and even insulted him for using such dreaded, ancient weaponry against her only beloved child. When he shot some shots from a plasma gun, the boy fainted - although the weapon wasn't Str 8776 as most marine weapons, it had a strange number in the AP field - notably 2, which meant that it could actually KILL an Ultramarine. Of course, he had a 4+ invulnerable save on every trooper, but he never had used it before, because noone had seen any Ap3 or less weapons since 2014. They just didn't make those - noone even used the rending pony anymore, it was just too weak, but then, this man comes, and uses this "Ordnance" thing, and has MORE than 3 troopers on the field....what a tragedy this was for the kid..... _________________
